The Unbearable Lightness of Being

We spend most of our lives 'doing'.  Working, making, coming, going, sleeping, waking, walking, running and jumping.  Usually it means we run after the kids and jump through hoops to keep them happy.

The problem with 'doing' is that it doesn't leave much time for just 'being'.

No actual time to do nothing.

No head space to switch off.

We just get on with life without noticing it passing us by.

Long-term travelling is supposed to give us the time to just 'be' but it isn't that simple.

It has taken us at least the first 3 months to really get into a rhythm whereby we have begun to move from doing to being.  From running to relaxing.  From coming and going to just being happy where we are.

It's not a permanent state, we still fluctuate between the two, but we have definitely started to learn how to be.

How long it will last and whether we can make it a permanent change in our mentality is the big challenge.

To be or not to be, that is the question.
