A break from travelling - 2 Weeks in Hoi An

Hoi An is one of those places on the Israeli families' Top 5 list of 'places to settle down for a while' and we always thought we would spend some time here. Right in the middle of Vietnam, an ancient town, UNESCO Heritage site, good climate, beach, great food.  Everything that is needed for relaxation and soaking up the local culture.

As it turned out, we spent 2 great weeks here, spending most of our time with some other Israeli families who were in a similar state of mind!

Shoshi has already blogged about the great time we had here, so I'll keep it short:
  • we arrived at the start of Tet (6th Feb)
  • crazy busy, certainly the most tourists we have seen on our travels so far
  • stayed at the brilliant Moon Homestay, with Moon and her family, just brilliant.
  • we saw traditional Chinese dragon dancing
  • we rode bikes across rice fields every day
  • we sang Karaoke
  • we swam
  • we built sand castles
  • we ate (and ate and ate)
  • we had a brilliant day cooking class with the wonderful Huynh
  • we went to a pottery village
  • saw a traditional Vietnamese Water Puppet Show
  • saw the traditional Hoi An Lantern Festival
  • just hung out with friends, discussing everything and nothing
  • got tailored dresses made (Shoshi)
  • got new glasses (Mili)
  • got teeth cleaned (Eyal)
  • got a verruca sorted (Guy)
  • got some beers in (Darren)
